My name is Laura Allard! I'm 24-years-old and I live in a little town in Florida called Oviedo. I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Now, I am hoping God shows me how to use my talents to future His Kingdom! I recently married the love of my life on Feb. 17th! We are so excited and I praise God for bringing us together.
I hope my love for the Lord, my husband, my family, friends, crafting, Starbucks drinking and baking will keep you reading my post! I'm excited to learn from all of you and hopefully encourage you through what God has taught me with my life experiences!

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
A new year, a new me. Right? This is what I know I want at the beginning of January 2015. Hmm… if only this year I could:
– Be punctual
– Eat healthier
– Clip coupons
– Stick to my budget
– Purge the house
– Clean all the windows
– Read my bible more than once a day
– Pray without ceasing
– Never miss a birthday
– Call my long distance relatives every month
– Workout
– Complete unfinished projects
The list goes on!

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”Colossians 3:12-14
I had a small bible study with my husband on these verses and I felt so encouraged by God after reading them.
God calls His children to love and obey His commands because of what He has done for us. He loved us so much that He sent His one and only son – Jesus Christ– to this earth so we could all have the chance to follow Him and spend eternity with Him.

Sometimes you don’t know why the Lord is calling you to read a particular book in the bible. In recent months I felt like God wanted me to know the gospel from John – like a pro! Not sure if I am a professional anything, maybe with God’s grace and mercy I am a decent writer but I am not a theologian or bible scholar by any means! But God is good. He speaks to everyone through his Word, especially those who seek after him with their whole heart (Jeremiah 29-13, You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.)

Christmas is not to far in the distance anymore so I thought this would be a great message to share. After reading Luke 1 and 2 I found myself marveling at the differences in the birth of John the Baptist and Jesus the Messiah. It’s pretty remarkable to see how God wanted John’s arrival to be revealed at the center of the Jewish nation, but he picked for Jesus to be born in a manger. Another interesting point revealed to me – John was the son of Zechariah, a priest and his mother was also highly looked up to. Jesus’s parents, Mary and Joseph, were just average Jewish people.

I am usually not good at reading the Old Testament. I guess it intimidates me more than anything. Seeing God’s wrath is intimidating but it is also important to learn about. It’s a characteristic of our God because He is just. His justice points back to the cross and all He is given to us in Jesus Christ, God’s precious son, sacrificing himself for our sins.
Seeking my desire to know and grow closer to God, in a way that wasn’t as comfortable, led me to start reading 1 Samuel.
In 1 Samuel Chapter 2, I marveled at Hannah’s wonderful prayer of thanksgiving to God.

Hello brave ones!
It has been a challenging month for a close friend. Through this trial, me and my husband have seen just how much faith this person has in God and it has encouraged us so much.
Without going to much into detail about what happened to our friend, I will say, one of his family members passed away.
When thinking about all the pain this person was going through and is still going through I asked myself, “Would my faith be as great? Would I be able to get up in the morning and say to God thank you for your perfect will?”

In recent weeks, I have been inspired by not only God’s Word but a morning devotional. It’s called “Craving God” by Lysa Terkeurst. I was drawn to it by the title itself, “Craving God.”
The devotion that has been stuck in my head is on gentleness. If you would have asked me a couple weeks ago if I was a gentle woman, I would have said yes. But now I know a little better because I know more on what God says gentleness is. I always thought gentleness was a thing to do with babies and animals, turns out there’s a lot more to it then that.
