A Note From Janice

Janice

Hi – I am Janice, co-owner with my twin sister, Susan, of 5 Minutes for Mom and a contributor at Faith Lifts. I am thrilled to be a part of Faith Lifts and honored to be writing with such a wonderful team of women.

I am a wife and mom. Our four and a half year old son Jackson keeps me laughing, playing and sometimes pulling out my hair. He is adorable and hilarious. I am in love with being a mom and it touches every part of my life. You will also hear me referring to my niece, Julia, Susan’s little girl. I am totally in love with her too and she and Jackson are like brother and sister.

At the age of 14, I got sick and have struggled with my health ever since. For several years I was homebound and unable to go to school or later to work. The years I spent lying in bed, alone with God, were a crash course in life and faith. Although it was devastating to “lose” those years of my life, I count them as the greatest time of inspiration and learning I have ever experienced.

Miraculously, I eventually grew healthy enough to volunteer as a youth leader and then to work full time as a youth worker with Youth for Christ (with much resting when I was off.) And I even got to become a mom – a dream I thought would never come true! Although every day is a struggle to keep up with housework, our online business and my very active son, I make it through with help from my husband, my twin Susan, and my mom.

I am bursting with passions but, limited by time and energy, I am forced to devote myself to only a few at this stage of my life. If you knew me in person you would laugh (or get frustrated) at how fast I talk. Be grateful you get to read at your own pace!

I adore teaching the Bible to young people and I thoroughly loved my work as a youth worker with YFC. But when Jackson was two and a half, I decided to become a stay at home mom. I miss my ministry, but I realize that time in my life has come to an end.

I have been writing all of my life and I am so grateful that the Lord is allowing me to continue to serve Him through my laptop.

I am also an amateur, but totally addicted, photographer. And if only there were more hours in the day, energy in my body, and cash in my wallet, I would be back at school learning more about photography. (One day!)

My prayer is that the Lord will bless us all through the ministry of Faith Lifts. Thanks for joining us here!
