We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done. Psalm 78:4 NIV
We wandered in and out of the rooms searching for treasure.
Memories.
A piece of history to carry with us.
After my grandmother’s passing, the grandchildren were invited to her house to reminisce and select special items we wanted to keep. I walked on the back porch where my grandparents used to sit on summer evenings and talk. Covered in dust was their old black phone with the rotary dial.

Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 NIV
I’ve been blessed in my life to have many different girlfriends. The women come from different backgrounds, ages, and stages of life and that just fascinates me. I have always surrounded myself with this beautifully eclectic group of ladies and have learned so much from them on my journey through life.
Unfortunately, I never really took the time to appreciate what these women, who are like a colorful cord of sisters, have meant to me… until recently. I’m not sure if it is because I am getting older or just wising up to how precious the gift of girlfriends really are to my life.

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13
Does this verse give you a little knot in the pit of your stomach? I am always so grateful for God’s amazing grace, for His overwhelming love, and for mercy given in undeserved forgiveness. I only wish I found it easier to extend the same mercy, grace, and love to others.
Do you struggle with memories of offenses that have hurt you? Words that betrayed? Cruel comments that left you with a broken heart? Do you feel justified when you replay those memories again and again?

I have been meditating on this verse over the last couple of weeks:
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6:33-NLT)
I posted a Facebook status a while back that said, “I may not have everything I want, but I always have everything that I need”. As I’ve reflected back on that statement, I’ve had to ask myself how many of the blessings I’ve received lately have been as a result of a heart that is fully seeking Him, or how much of it is simply as a result of grace.

…those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
How did your week go? Are you soaring above your troubles, or are you simply thankful to be able to place one foot in front of the other and move forward inch by inch?
I used to think there was something wrong with me. I had faith. My hope was planted on the Rock that is Jesus. However, there were days when I was quite certain there was no soaring going on at all.

I sort of laughed off the question when it was first asked. After all, it’s kind of hard to take a drunken Moose too seriously.
I was at my class reunion recently, chatting with a long-time friend and a new friend when someone who clearly wasn’t a classmate approached us. When he extended his hand to me, I thought perhaps he’d been a teacher at the school.
But when he pulled me in for a hug and asked, “Can I take you out?” I realized he was neither. (In order to hold our informal gathering at the local Moose Lodge, the event was opened to graduates from all previous years.)

GOD’s angel said to him (Balaam): “Why have you beaten your poor donkey these three times? I have come here to block your way because you’re getting way ahead of yourself. The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she hadn’t, I would have killed you by this time, but not the donkey. I would have let her off.” Numbers 22:32-33 The Message
Reading through the Bible the other day, I had to pause at this scripture. Why would God block Balaam’s way when it appeared he did what God asked? And why would God make a donkey talk to get his message across to Balaam?
