God Does Not Fight Fair

Most of us do not have enemies. We do not have actual individuals in our lives that are our sworn enemy, or nemesis as in the “arch enemy” of comic books and super hero movies. Yes, some who read this might, but MOST of us do not.

When reading the Bible and its use of the word “enemy” I sometimes replace it with the words, “my thoughts”, because my biggest enemy is right here in my very own head. Negative thoughts, beliefs and lies.

With this in mind, let’s read Psalm 143:3-12. I will just quote verses 3 and 4, you will want to go read the rest; it is pretty amazing!

“For ‘my thoughts’ have persecuted my soul; they have crushed my life to the ground; and have made me dwell in darkness, like those who have been long dead. Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is distressed….” Psalm 143:3,4 NKJV

When our enemy (our thoughts) cause us to doubt our worth and true value, it is tempting to talk to God about it. But He will not allow us to dwell in that negative pit. He will listen. And then He will answer back in the only way He can; with HUGE unconditional love.

Go ahead and just TRY to talk Him out of loving you. Not going to happen.

In case you cannot read the graphic:

I am worthless.

I love you.

Nothing was accomplished today.

You are My favorite creation.

I’m not good at anything.

I adore you.

My life is a waste.

You are valuable to Me.

What am I even doing here?

You delight Me.

I feel useless.

You are MY treasure.

HE really does not fight fair.

So true. The devil doesn’t even need to mess with most of us, most of the time, we torment ourselves quite effectively. Thanks for the reminder to stop it!

I love the graphic and the whole concep, because sometimes we say these ridiculous things and then seeing it in writing…well it just kind of magnifies that awesome God and silly (but oh, so loved) US!

Exactly Dawn. Even as I typed the negative statements I felt how silly they were to see in print, but they have been said in this head. Thanks for commenting Dawn. Love you. Susie
