Today Is Your Best Day (Review & Giveaway)

How would you characterize the best day of your life so far? Perhaps it’s the day you graduated from high school, or moved away to attend college and live life on your own. I am sure the day you married or had children are some of your best days yet. How about the day you met Jesus and realized your need of Him?

But what about yesterday, today or tomorrow? Was today a good day for you? Do you want to let go of yesterday, and are you somewhat hesitant about embracing all that tomorrow has for you?

What if I told you that TODAY is your best day? Would you believe me? I wasn’t sure I would have believed myself, until I read this small but powerful devotional written by DaySpring co-founder Roy Lessin.

Why is today your best day? The fact that God loves you, that He cares about you, and that He is on your side are three key reasons. In addition, there are God’s faithful promises, the fellowship of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit. In all, Today is Your Best Day helps you discover 60 life-changing reasons — all biblical perspective from best selling author and one of the world’s best known inspirational writers, Roy Lessin. Lessin’s writings help you focus your thoughts on what really matters — providing inspiration and encouragement for your day. These heartfelt devotional thoughts will help you walk with the assurance of what your heart knows, not the uncertainty of what your eyes see.ย  No matter what happens, remember, when your life is in God’s hands, every day is your best day.

At first glance, I loved the size of this book. Just big enough to fit into my purse and take with me everywhere I go. I love the color and design of the book (especially the coffee mug on the cover – it reminds me of the goodness of God’s promises with every sip!)ย  Although I had full intentions of reading the book cover to cover, I immediately found myself at the table of contents page turning to those chapters where I needed an extra dose of truth.

Today is your best day because God is your all.

God fills all, sustains all, and has a purpose for all He has created. – pg. 53

Today is your best day because Jesus is 100 Percent.

In His nature and character, Jesus is without fault or flaw. He is completely faithful. He will never fail you, He cannot fail you, and He will not fail you. Every promise He has made is true; there is not one lie or exaggeration in anything that He has ever said. Today, Jesus is your 100 percent Savior. – pg. 78

Today is your best day because of Joy.

Joy is like energy that flows through you to lighten your load, renew your zeal, and quicken your steps of faith. Joy is the strength to your legs that helps you to stand firm and steady in times of trial; the power in your arms that enables you to hold on to God’s exceeding great and precious promises; the rejoicing in your voice that speaks forth the victory of the Lord over every area of your life. – pg. 82

With each turn of the pages, I found the truth that I so often lose sight of in the busyness of my day. Truth that speaks of His love, His presence, His protection, His peace. These promises of God etched among the pages of this book are sure to enlighten your heart and your mind to better understand how the God of the universe feels towards you.

I am reminded of God’s love and care for us every time I see a spider web. When I see that and the amazing pattern such a little creature can make, I know that God will follow thru on His promise to provide for me as well! Just the little beauties of the world are simple reminders for me.

Romans 12:12 says “be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” I’ve walked with God, fell out of touch, and re-found Him after enduring some rollercoasters in life. He is always there, always here to listen, always here to show His love if you are willing to pick up your cross and follow Him. God is good.

I find that if I start my day with God, it is the best day, if I don’t it destined to fail.

I was reading in Colossians this morning and the Lord graciously reminded me of the following promises.

“We pray that you will be strengthened with all His glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to His people that live in the light!”

It goes on to say many great and wonderful and awesome truths and then ends with this,

“BUT, you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News.”

Books like this are very good to keep us focused on who we are in Christ. It is all too easy to get lost and confused as we go about our day. I often start well, but the business of life sometimes gets the best of me and I need to be reminded because I find myself drifting.

May the Lord bless the work of your hands as you present them to Him for service!

Alright so one of my favorite verses (passages) is in James 1: 2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Anyway, thanks for sharing the chance and the review. I would love to have it!

Hi, Barbie! Fun to meet up here for a change. My favorite verse of Scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 — For I know the plans I have for you,โ€ declares the Lord, โ€œplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Looks like a great devotional book — love Roy Lessing!
