A Morning Prayer

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

My Thesaurus and my Bible are always at my desk. For years, I had considered myself to be a speaker rather than a writer; however, since learning that they go hand in hand – writing assignments are on my focus list everyday. I can’t imagine writing without the help of a Thesaurus. My English teachers would be proud!! LOL

As I thought about this verse I decided to look up the word trust, and the following synonyms were listed: believe in, place confidence in, confide in, depend upon, put faith in, be convinced, and esteem. Synonyms for with all one’s heart were: deeply and sincerely. For the word acknowledge the following words were listed: confess, declare, recognize the authority of, admit, and accept.

If we were to rewrite Proverbs 3:5-6 using the above synonyms it might look like this: Be convinced and depend upon the Lord deeply and sincerely; recognize, accept, and declare that His ways are best, and He will guide and protect you. Now that makes it personal!

I can’t study the verse above without thinking of a prayer that I have written in the front of my Bible. A very dear friend shared it with us during a Sunday morning Bible Study hour. He told us it was the way he began each day, and his life reflected its words. Tilden’s morning prayer: Yes! I have surrendered this day to God. I will follow where He guides and I will do His will as He reveals it to me. Father, help me this day to fulfill this vow. That my life might glorify You alone. Amen.

May we be blessed with Holy Spirit power to begin each day trusting in the Lord with all our hearts, acknowledging that His ways alone are best, and surrendering ourselves to His care and keeping. To the praise and glory of His Son and our Savior, Jesus.

Thanks Summur, The precious man who shared this prayer with us recently went home to join his lovely wife in glory. I will forever praise the Lord for the beautiful witness he was to so many of us who knew and loved him. It was my pleasure to share it here. Blessings for beautiful days in Jesus!
