Created for Connection

 “You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. ~John 13:3

Recently, we have encountered some computer problems. Our computer started doing strange things and ultimately needed to be brought in for a complete overhaul. It started with the screen, then the mouse went crazy, the printer next, our internet connection was lost, and finally the hard drive.

It seemed each time one problem got resolved another reared up in its place. Meanwhile as a one computer family we were pretty much disconnected from much of our online activity. This definitely has its positive and negative points, but one would prefer to choose the way, how, why and when a computer break would happen. In my humble opinion, of course. But, let’s just say God has His reasons, and perhaps He just wanted to give me something to write about.

Either way, the whole process got me thinking about connections. As in what are we most connected to or even, who? It seems we send a lot of time trying to get connected and stay connected. We expend a lot of time and energy trying to maintain connectivity. To what end?

During one of the troubleshooting attempts we did to resolve our problem I spoke with a technician on the phone. As I sat before my Computer Screen holding the phone to my ear being coached, the monitor had at its center the words “connecting”, and a tiny little spinning circle that represented the computer’s hard work at trying to connect. For all the spinning, the computer was definitely not connecting. It stayed in the trying to connect mode but never connected.

We are hardwired for intimacy with God. How much time do we spend actually connecting with Him?

Sometimes we get busy chasing other ways for connection, we spin in circles, get exhausted and literally remain in the connecting mode without ever connecting to the One we claim is our God.

After we resolved all of our “connection” issue and cleaned the hard drive, we then discovered the monitor needed to be replaced.

Maybe you are connected but your view of God leaves you feeling disconnected. Perhaps you need a new screen with which to see God clearly. Maybe you need to replace your old view of God with a new, more complete one.

 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,  and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. Colossians 2:9-10

No matter how long we walk in fellowship with Jesus and read His Word, He is a fountain of continual renewal. His wisdom and knowledge are fathomless. It is impossible for us to grasp all knowledge-the Bible says it is a chasing of the wind!

So stop spinning in circles and chasing the wind. Get connected to the One from whom all blessings flow. Plug into Jesus, who is Wisdom, Truth and the One who subdues the wind…and I suppose, computers.

Consider Jesus your Computer Tech and let Him Spring clean your hard drive, adjust or replace your monitor and give you a brand new view of His glory. He is able and willing to clear your vision and help you to get and stay “connected”.

 He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me. Colossians 2:28-29
