I keep a book at my desk titled, On Things That Really Matter, by H. Jackson Brown Jr. It is filled with thoughts and quotes. Whenever I find myself with a case of writer’s block, I flip open this little book and find words of inspiration. Today’s words came from an unnamed seventy nine year old individual: I’ve learned that . . . children need loving the most when they are the hardest to love.
That is a truism for everyone! I believe we each need the most love when we are the hardest to love. How blessed we are that God’s love is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He love us even when we are the hardest to love.
Let’s look at some promises from Scripture:
The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:4-5
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. 1 John 3:1
This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:10
Father, how great is Your love toward us. We thank and praise You for Your grace and mercy. Please help us to love each other the way You love us. Help us to love the most when it is the hardest. In the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
