Blessed Christmas

Some tasks are daunting, and for me that would be writing a devotion for Christmas Eve. There are so many things that could be said about the day. The many ways we celebrate: exchanging gifts, enjoying time with family and friends, and worshipping with brothers and sisters in Christ. We share stories of Christmas past and continue traditions from generation to generation. With all of that being said, there is only one message on my heart today. I want to join the angels in singing, “Glory to God in the highest.” So please sit back, read, and reread the following words from Scripture; words of promise, of hope, of forgiveness and love.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old , from ancient times. Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor gives birth and the rest of His brothers return to join the Israelites. He will stand and shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God. And they will live securely, for then His greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And He will be their peace. Micah 5:2-5a

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:1&14

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you, He is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.” Luke 2:14

Father, I want those you have give me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory You have given me because You loved me before the creation of the world. John 17:24

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:11

May your family be blessed with a wonderful Christmas celebration. May the best gift you receive this year be the gift of our Savior, Jesus, His love and hope for each day, now and forever.
