Security Breach

Today at the airport I had to wait an extra 2 hours before catching my flight, along with hundreds of other passengers, because of a security breach. Apparently some people had slipped past security without being screened and so they stopped anyone entering while they evacuated all of the departing passengers back out of the secure area until they had made sure everything was safe and then slowly let people through.

I thought I was totally justified in feeling frustrated, but I was challenged when I read Genny’s post recently and realized that I’d had a security breach of my own. I had allowed frustration and discouragement to creep in and I wasn’t even aware of it.

Imagine a mental scanner with the ‘beep’, ‘beep’, ‘beep’ as thoughts pass by and then a sudden alarm as you hear over the loud speakers “Security to level 1. Impatience and anger have been detected attempting to enter the secure area”. While that would be helpful, it might be somewhat disconcerting to those you live with! But God has given us His Spirit and His Word the Bible to help us day to day.

“Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” Philippians 4:8

And I love this verse in Philippians 2:13

“For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose”

God gives us the desire and the ability to fulfil his purpose for us, isnt that encouraging! So as you go through this week, be sensitive to the Spirit and aware of what you are entertaining in your mind. And if you clear that area each morning before the rush, those security breaches will become a lot less frequent.

    Ouch! That one hit close to home! I’ve had too many “security breaches” in my mind. I need to guard my heart and mind. Fortunately, the full Armor of God is acceptable as we pass through security!
