If Momma Ain’t Happy

I wish I could say that there is no truth to the saying, “If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!” However, I remember more times than I would like to mention the influence my mood has had on my entire family.

A specific time was during the years my dear husband and I suffered with secondary infertility. That longing for another child would translate into several days of mourning each and every month. Many vacation days, family days, holidays, and even just your everyday-normal-days were affected by my sadness. I have since asked for my family’s forgiveness, and they have been wonderful in extending their love, forgiveness and encouragement. By God’s grace, the years of struggle were followed by many years filled with happy family memories with the addition of our youngest through the blessing of adoption.

What lessons did I learn during those difficult days?

God’s timing is not my timing, but His timing is always perfect! God’s plans may be different than mine, but I can trust Him to know what is best for me! Impatience, worry, and anxiety are not good for me or for anyone around me! God is who He says He is and He can do what He says He can do! (Beth Moore – Believing God)

Paul writes in Philippians:

I am not telling you this because I need anything. I have learned to be satisfied with the things I have and with everything that happens. I know how to live when I am poor, and I know how to live when I have plenty. I have learned the secret of being happy at any time in everything that happens, when I have enough to eat and when I go hungry, when I have more than I need and when I do not have enough. I can do all things through Christ, because He gives me strength. Philippians 4:11-13

I am so very thankful the Lord is willing to forgive my ugly attitudes. His love, His provision, His forgiveness . . . just a few of the many reasons for this momma to be happy!

Thank you so much for posting this today. I needed a little reminder that I influence the family and not always in a positive light. I need to keep that in mind when I feel like crabbing for a day.

    Thanks!

Yes! God’s timing is always perfect. He’s never too early, or too late, and He absolutely sees the bigger picture. I am so thankful that He loves me unconditionally and forgives my ugliness at times.
