Come…An Invitation

“Come,” Jesus said. (Matthew 14:29)

I have read the story of Peter stepping out of the boat many times. I think of that moment as he gazed across the water and Jesus said just one word…COME.

An invitation.

Did Peter then turn to the others and say…Could you pray about this for me? Did he then write down the pros and cons of taking that step? No. He simply stepped out in faith. To walk on water towards Jesus. It was only when He took His eyes off of Jesus and looked at the water, that fear took over and he began to sink. The beauty of that moment is that even then Jesus held out His hand. He didn’t let Peter sink. He offered rescue in that moment.

All too often when we are walking towards Jesus, we feel the need to analyze the path. We look to the natural in the midst when in actuality we are in the midst of the supernatural within the invitation. He asks us to follow Him. In total trust of where He is taking us. Knowing that if we falter, He is right there holding out His hand.

What step of faith is He asking you to take today,  friend?

    Wendy,
Amen and AMEN! “All too often when we are walking towards Jesus, we feel the need to analyze…He asks us to follow Him. In total trust of where He is taking us.” I pray for the courage to step out on faith when my mind tells me there is NO solid ground. Thank you for this brilliant reminder.
Peace and good, sweet sister. Your words were a balm for my soul.

You got me here, Wendy! I do this all too often…too often.

And tonight when I step out in faith to share my faith with a group of women gathering, I’ll think about my friend Wendy reminding me to keep my eyes on Jesus and just step. Thank you!!!

Wendy! This line here just resounded through my heart: “We look to the natural in the midst when in actuality we are in the midst of the supernatural within the invitation.” Oh, yes. Too often. I pray I look only at Him more and more often.

Love this Wendy, so easy to get distracted staring at the path instead of looking at our Savior. 🙂
