Our Heavenly Teacher

This is what the Lord says – your Redeemer, the Holy one of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. Isaiah 48:17

With summer break here in much of the United States, teachers and students alike are breathing a sigh of relief . . . thankful to leave the classroom for a couple of months. As a former teacher, I remember this time of year as being bitter sweet. I loved the slower pace of the summer, the extra time with my own children, and of course not having to head off to work every morning. Yet, it was difficult to say good-bye on that last day of school. I know I am not the only teacher to shed tears as students headed off to the next chapter of their lives.

Look again at the verse above. The Lord God teaches us what is best and the way we are to go. What a blessing it is to know that our Heavenly Teacher never takes a break from guiding and instructing His children. He never sends us off into the next chapter of our lives on our own.

In what areas do you need the Lord’s guidance today? Ask Him to teach you. You don’t even have to raise your hand or wait your turn. He invites us to enter into His presence and learn from Him.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

The Holy Spirit, our Teacher, is always with us. I am so thankful He does not take the Summer off!
