God’s Powerful Word

Isaiah 55:11
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

This year, in our Wednesday night program at church, we have the privilege of having some children from a local children’s home to be with us. This home is for children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect in emergency situations.

The children in our program memorize verses each week and have team leaders sign off on the verses they have recited. Last week, one of our little girls from the home wanted to say some verses to her leader. But, she turned far ahead in the book. The leader looked back at the previous pages and realized they were signed by someone she didn’t know. She began asking the little girl about her verses. The little girl said she was saying them on her visits. Another child from the home had walked up to listen and informed the leader that the little girl meant she was saying them when she went home to visit her parents.

Wow! Not only was this child being exposed to God’s Word and hiding it in her heart, she was sharing it with her parents! And they were listening!

God has promised us that His Word will not return to Him empty. The King James version uses the word “void.” We can be diligent in sharing his Word, knowing that He will use that to touch lives.
