It’s All About Attitude

Life is tougher than usual for many people right now.

Finances may be tight and stress may be high.

We’ve all heard the saying, “Attitude is everything.†But, when things aren’t going our way, or our future seems uncertain, it can be pretty easy to become consumed with worry or complaining.

Yet if we can remember that, no matter what is going on in our lives, God’s in control, this truth alone can help us stay focused on what’s important. And it can get us through the tough times.

“Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise. Psalm 48:1

Knowing that God is great—that He knows the plan for our lives and that He will never leave us—can give us peace in the midst of any storm.

Remembering this also helps our attitudes for the little things too…

Just yesterday, I realized I’ve been doing a lot of “grumbling†lately. I’ve been working hard to meet a writing deadline, and balancing that with everything else has been a challenge. I’ve been letting the stress get to me.

I decided I need to refocus…

So instead of being frustrated about not having enough time to get everything done, I want to be thankful for the moments I do have. And fill them with things that count.

Instead of being stressed by the laundry or the grocery shopping, I want to be thankful that I have a washer and dryer, and a grocery store around the corner.

And if my day doesn’t go exactly planned, I want to be grateful for the surprises that life can bring. Because it’s often in those surprises that we find the greatest blessings.

Every time I complain, whether in my head or out loud, I want to catch myself and turn that complaint into a praise.

Because God IS great.

And He is worthy.

And I want my attitude to reflect that.

Thank you for the beautiful reminder that I need to check my attitude. I logged on my computer because I was having an attitude and these were just the words I needed to see. God is great! I do have much to be thankful for — Blessings!

Woah thanks Genny. I am writing a talk about that very topic and your post was a great confirmation! It all depends where you sit doesnt it? Whether you are running around stressing and fixing or sitting with Jesus and resting waiting to see His perspective. Thanks!

I want my attitude to reflect that too. I want it to reflect the very heart of Jesus. What a beautifully written word. Thank you!

    Genny,
I always enjoy the gentle reminders that Christ lays on your heart and has you pass on to the rest of us!! We all fall into the grumbles…so easy to do….and how much easier life is when we live in a constant state of praise!
    Blessings!
