Warning, Pain Ahead

Recently, one of my children was told very specifically not to do something because they would get hurt if they did it. About an hour later I hear a wail coming from their direction. Sure enough they did exactly what I told them not to do and they got hurt.

I am not exactly a prophet like Isaiah was, but he told the people of Judah that God’s judgment was near if they did not stop what they were doing. He even predicted that the people of Judah would blame God for the problems that they were facing. Wouldn’t it be absolutely ridiculous if my child who was hurt after I told them to be careful were to blame me for their pain after they were careless? It sounds silly, but how often do we do that with God?

The thing about children, no matter how frustrated we get, even though we tell them not to do something, if they are hurt we are still going to love them through the pain. In my mind, and even it may slip out of my mouth, “I told you so,” I am still going to bandage their wounds and sit there with them while they are wailing. God is the same way, He still loves His people and even though He may be angry He will still provide hope and love when we have turned away from Him.

Isaiah 12: 1-2
I will praise you, LORD.
Although you were angry with me,
your anger has turned away
and you have comforted me.
2 Surely God is my salvation;
I will trust and not be afraid.
The LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my defense;
he has become my salvation.”

Are there things in your life that God has warned you to steer clear from and you made excuses or allowed them in anyway? Know that pain is coming your way, but God still loves you and He is going to ride out the pain with you. He is sitting right next to you, cling to him and let Him know that you need Him more than anything or anyone right now. He is your Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.

    How I NEED this kind of love, this kind of grace! How thankful I am that He not only still LOVES us, but that He comforts us and sticks by us even when we have done not-so-smart-downright-willful stuff.

    Great encouragement! It is so easy to pull away from Him, feeling sure that He must be sick of our hardheadedness, done with our disobedience. But He is forever calling us back to Himself, longing to love on us and offer us His forgiveness.
