Peace in the Waiting

“I’m confident of this very thing, that he which hath
begun a good work in me will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Phil.
1:6)

Sometimes waiting is not about being denied what we want, it’s about molding, and shaping us into who God wants us to be.

Doesn’t make it an easier, huh?

Waiting is not easy. It’s not even fun. But it is necessary.

Why? Only God knows for sure. I remember a time I used to ask a lot of “W” questions.

“Why did she get that book contract instead of me?”
“Why are you blessing her and not me?”
“When will it be my turn?”
“What more can I do?”

Unfortunately, God didn’t shout the answers to my questions, but slowly brought me to a place of acceptance and peace. Maybe those who have gone before me were further on in their journey. The timing was right for them to move ahead. Maybe I’m not ready. I needed to accept the plan He had for me, not stress and worry about the timing and leave it all to Him. He’s the one who’s in control.

And I’m okay with that now. The peace I finally have (and believe me, it wasn’t there for a loooong time) helps me press on when I seem to be walking in slow motion.

So what can we do while we wait?

Press on and keep doing what God has called you to do. Don’t worry about the promotion, or the accolades, or the end result. Keep focused on Jesus and doing what He’s called you to do.

I’m reminded of the FireProof song. The one playing when Caleb is doing all the things to win his wife back, but nothing seems to be working. “I will serve you while I’m waiting…”

Keep serving Him, while you’re waiting!!

I’m waiting on you, Lord.. I love that song too. God blesses us in so many ways. It’s funny how when we look back on the times we were waiting something incredible happened shortly after that would have never happened if we were not waiting..Does that make sense? God’s time is always perfect!

Thanks, I needed that. I love that song too and have it playing on my blog. I feel like I’m in a holding pattern. I know God is working in my life and that great things are to come, but the waiting is lonely, long and discouraging at times. Thanks for the encouraging words.

Couldn’t agree more. Waiting seems endless. It’s a relief to know that waiting happens to other people too, not that I want to see other people suffer, but that I am normal and what I am going through is not at an isolated case and definitely not punishment. God is good all the time!

Thanks for your comments, ladies. Waiting shouldn’t be a lonely journey with so many of us out there!

Today’s been a hard day and I so wanted the waiting to be over or to hear some good news, but didn’t and yet, God is still good! And tomorrow will be yet another day of waiting. And in all the waiting, God does have a purpose, even if I can’t see it!
