There are days when it is easy to praise the Lord. Days when I get up and the sun is shining and all my children are happy and healthy. Days when my husband is extra loving and attentive. Days when I accomplish everything on my list.
But there are other days. Days when it is rainy and I feel depressed. Days when I am nursing a sick child (or more than one). Days when I argue with my husband and feel alone. Days when nothing seems to get done. It is harder to praise on these days.
And then there have been even harder days. Days when my husband was out of work. Days when we lost a baby. Days when we have lost loved ones. It is much harder to praise on these days.
But, the words of Habakkuk stir me:
Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Habakkuk 3:17-18
So, I will praise the Lord on all my days, the good and the bad, the easy and the difficult. I will focus, not on my circumstances which are changing and unstable, but on God my Savior Who is constant and in Whom I can rejoice.
Its always easier to praise people and God on good days than on unpleasant days. Well written, especially the last paragraph.
My sister in law always says I am the praiser in the family. I praise Jesus no matter what and even if it is at the very worst, I praise first before I do anything else. I remember when my Dad died of course I was a little upset but right away I praised. I praised The Lord for Taking my Father quickly and for Taking my Father home to be with Him.
SO if you are not a good praiser maybe someone else in your family is. Ask them to help you with your praising.
