When Advent Feels Out of Your Grasp

Can you hear it?

The gentle cadence of everyday marvels: the plink of the first quarter into a tin bucket at the lemonade stand; the buzz of the doorbell announcing a friend’s arrival; the beep of the timer in an oven with chocolate chip cookies inside.

Can you feel it?

The rhythmic beat sweet baby kisses on your cheek; knit socks hugging your feet; streams of sunlight on your face.

Can you see it?

The harmony of a rainbow spectrum in a rain puddle; a toddler’s extra long eyelashes; a fresh dusting of snow.

He’s singing over you.

He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing. –Zephaniah 3:17

What elicits your smile? Moves you to tears? Makes you laugh out loud?

Is it a first row parking spot in a crowded lot? A cozy, turquoise infinity scarf? A certain song on the radio that you can’t help but sing out loud?

It’s His love song to you. Each moment, He reveals how He knows you.

How He is blessing you.

It’s a love that promises to be faithful, provide, sustain, redeem.

A love that came down to earth.

Incarnated.

For you.

A love that sings over you every moment.

I have loved you with an everlasting love. –Jeremiah 31:3

When the tree is still in a box in the basement or waiting to be cut down; when cookies don’t get baked; when the elf doesn’t make it to the shelf, let alone poop peppermints; when the whole of Advent seems out of grasp.

Just pause.

Breathe.

And listen for the beat of His song to you.

Do you hear the serenade?

Use Advent to soak it up.

And dance.

Grandioso.

Mandy, this is perfect. I experience God’s love through worship. It’s when I feel closest to Him. Blessings!

Thanks, Barbie! Yes, worship! How do you like to worship? I experienced a whole new level at Allume this year that I want to write about soon. The music was amazing, and I discovered the charismatic in me:)

Love the emphasis on seeing God in the details of life! We sometimes get so busy we miss out on these details that really can bless us daily & continually.

Thanks, Kari! Starting to be present to those details seems to cause a slow down in the rush of life too. Thanks for reading today.
