God Will Make a Way

God will make a way
Last month, here on 5 Minutes for Faith, I wrote about the day God stopped me in my tracks. He reminded me that no matter what I think I know, only He knows the full and complete picture of His plans.

That same day, although I don’t remember what I was reading at the time, this verse was put in front of me.

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Why We Keep Trying to Do it All

I couldn’t sleep. Not because of worry about a loved one or a crisis or impending deadlines. I couldn’t sleep because I suddenly felt the enormity of trying to do it all.

Not Just a Matter of Managing Time

I’ve always been fond of the notion that if I find the right time management approach, I’ll be able to do it all. I’ve been testing a different method of getting things done each week and I keep finding ways to be productive. But none of my task hacks have decreased my giant list of things I think I should be doing–and doing well.

Where are You Looking?

1-MH900411764
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!

Are You Happy? Do You Want to Be Happy?

Let me begin by telling you that I have battled depression . . . both situational and chemical/hormonal. I’ve been depressed at times when the people around me understood, and at times when they had no idea what to do or how to help.

If you are dealing with depression know that I am praying for you as I write this.

Something I have learned from my struggle with depression:

I want to be happy!

If you want to be happy too . . . I have some suggestions for you:

1. Get help –  Talk to your doctor, talk to a counselor, confide in someone you trust.

Letter to a Tired Mother

Dear Mother,
God sees you. I needed to tell you that. Yes, I’m talking to you. Yes, you. God knows your hurts. He hears your quiet sobs in the night.

It stormed here last night. The rain fell, and my baby cried. I paced the floor between her bed and mine. The well-worn path needed nothing to illuminate the way. My heart led. That’s the way of things when your child is sick.

I wanted you to know there’ll be nights like this. There will be strings of nights like this. Each time you lay your body down, you’ll wonder, “Will I wake when she calls?”

Walking, Running, or Soaring?

…those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31

How did your week go? Are you soaring above your troubles, or are you simply thankful to be able to place one foot in front of the other and move forward inch by inch?

I used to think there was something wrong with me. I had faith. My hope was planted on the Rock that is Jesus. However, there were days when I was quite certain there was no soaring going on at all.

Always! Never Stop! In All Circumstances!

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

How do you feel when you read those verses? I usually feel a little guilty. It’s hard to be joyful and thankful in the midst of worry and anxiety. Unless you are living alone in a cave, there are usually plenty of things to be worried and anxious about.

Maybe that it why right between joy and thanksgiving, the Lord reminds us to never stop praying!

I moderate the prayer requests for Prayer Ministries Int.
