For When You Don’t Ask For What You Want

I shuffled the kids into the park just before dusk. It was a little too late in the day and a little too cool to stay long but we went anyway. It’s beautifully designed – big enough for all my children to enjoy and small enough so I can see the entire park.

I took a well deserved seat on the bench. And off they ran. Tire swings, for the moment friends and structures to climb. I’ll remember this summer as the first in a long while that I’ve actually been able to sit at the playground.

The Possibilities This Year

There is something profound about stepping into a new year. Stretched out before us are months, fresh and unwritten as the blank pages of a new calendar. Waiting for us are experiences yet to be lived, adventures yet to be enjoyed, and blessings yet to be discovered.

There is such possibility in the start of a year. Some of us jump into all of this open possibility with the best of intentions and maybe even some resolutions and goals. We race into plans to organize, improve, shape up, slim down…or whatever happens to have made our hit list.

But sometimes we can get stuck.

You CAN Read Through the Bible!

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ” Matthew 4:4 NIV

I confess. I’ve never read through the entire Bible. Of course, for years when January finally arrives I commit to read through the Bible, but midway through February, I fizzle out.

I’m sure no one can relate!

Well, this time it’s different. I’ve been working through The Message Bible//Remix for a while now. It’s a daily Bible reading program that can be accomplished in a year or longer. I’m going for the longer plan.
