A Note From Laura K.

Hi there — I’m Laura. If I wore boots, I’d say I was “shaking in my boots”, but since I’m barefoot most of the summer and have been known to wear flip flops with socks the rest of the year, we’ll have to come up with a new expression for me. I’m young. I’m not an experienced writer. I live with my husband and two young sons up here in Washington state, our faces to the wind, sending energy to California and dust everywhere else. It’s a beautiful place to live, if you time it right.

Daytime you’ll find me photographing the happy times, involving my kids in learning activities and baking projects. We roll in the leaves together and sometimes chase each other around the house. When sleep finally brings quiet to the home, I sit with my computer and dig deep into the wells of creativity buried inside me, down there under the piles of diapers and puddles of spilled milk. I tap the keys until inspiration hits and then finally feel like a contributing member of society once more.

Writing does that for me. It brings hard things down to a level of understanding. It brings big, insurmountable things into perspective. Writing gives me clarity, fulfillment, and often peace and a renewed sense of humor. I learn as I write. Thanks for joining me in this journey!
