He Equips Those He Calls

Do you ever question your calling? These passions that are bursting fully from your heart, yet you feel inadequate to run with them? I know I do.

As a mom, I often feel inadequate. In many ways, I am still learning to love and obey God. Yet, I have been given this enormous responsibility to teach my children to love and obey. How can I, an imperfect mom, show them how to love God will all of their heart, soul, mind and strength when I so often fall short?

As a wife, some days I feel as if I don’t measure up. I want to keep the house clean, but it’s almost impossible while working full time. I wish I had more time to cook for my husband. He does the majority of the cooking during the week. And the laundry — “Honey, where are my clean socks?”  Uhm, I think they are still in the washer.

As a woman of God, I fall short. Most days, all I see with my human eyes are tasks unfinished, the tears of my children after I’ve spoken harsh words, or the laundry that I can never seem to get control of. My imperfections stare at me continually. But God does not call me to live a perfect life. He simply called me. He put in me the desire to be a wife and a mother, and He fulfilled that desire. And lately, He has been reminding me that whatever it is that He has called me to do, He will equip me for the task.

He equips me with strength when I am weak.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

He equips me with patience when I feel as if I could lose my mind.

We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father. (Colossians 1:11-12b)

He equips me with joy when the task in front of me seems burdensome.

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm 16:11)

He equips me with hope when I feel like giving up.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT)

I am praying for you today my sisters, that you will know that God will equip you because He has called you. You are a good wife, an amazing mom and a beautiful friend. He has called you and He will give you the grace and the ability to finish the good work He has begun in you.

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. (Philippians 1:6 NLT)

I think I am going to print this out so I can look at it over and over! I needed these words today… I feel a burden lifting already. I am going to rest in these grace-filled words and fall into grace-filled hands as I offer myself again today to Him.

Thank you for your honesty and sharing truth… and thank you for being such an encouragement to me 🙂

Blessings to you, my new friend <3

    Hi Barbie,
    Amen!
God see’s in us what we don’t see and He equips us with the ability to do the job set before us. We just need to trust in Him that He will provide.

    Wonderful post.

    Beautiful, encouraging post, friend.
Oh what He can do through us when we get out of our own way…
Lord, thank You for calling me. Thank You for showering me with grace when I fail expectations only I have set for myself. Let’s finish what we’ve started strong. You lead the way, I’ll follow. Together, we’ll make something beautiful.

Jer 29:11, a life verse for me. I so often have the same feelings…I am so thankful for His grace. It is sufficient. And thankfully, through His grace, we can serve our husbands, raise our children, do our work, all the while learning and growing in Him. It really is through these experiences that we grow in His grace.
