Getting to know Jesus

Jesus, who is He? Who is He to me?

Those are the questions I have been asking myself a lot recently. I understand the Trinity in the sense that God is three in one: The Father, The Son (Jesus) and The Holy Spirit but it is still a very complicated concept that definitely requires God’s help to understand.

What works best for me is to break them up. God the Father, created Heaven and Earth, Jesus is the son of God who left His throne in Heaven to save us all from sin and The Holy Spirit is what lives inside of us acting as our new conscience from God once we accept Christ into our hearts.

With that said, I still always find myself praying to God the Father. I haven’t been asking Christ for help, when in fact it is by Jesus’s blood only that I can come to the Father. It is in this that I have chosen to actively look to Jesus and really become His friend. From books I have read, like Captivating and Crazy Love, I am more and more overwhelmed and excited for the love Christ offers us and how He is always waiting for us to take hold of His Great Love. It’s a love that is so extraordinary I don’t think I will ever truly understand until I meet Him. But it is never the less so joyful.

For me at least I feel I always strive to be perfect at everything I do; from how I do my eye shadow,  how I make pancakes, and especially how I write. But in all of those things, I know I will never be perfect. I know that my eye shadow sometimes looked better last Sunday then this Sunday, I know the first pancake I make is most likely going to be sloppy and not fully cooked and I know that when I write THIS devotion it will have a few grammar mistakes. Although these things seem so small, to a woman the details are what make her who she is [if that wasn’t true, Pinterest would have never been created and so popular]. So, with that said sometimes I feel pretty inadequate.

So, I praise God for Jesus! As I learn more about Him and worship Him I see the way He looks at me and He doesn’t see any of the flaws that I see or the world sees. He thinks I am beautiful without makeup on, He doesn’t judge me by the way I make pancakes or by how many grammar mistakes are in my writing. I am a firm believer in how the love of Christ can transform a person and regenerate them. Christ regenerates my soul every single time I ask Him.

Our Savior is always faithful, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” Hebrews 13:8.

I picture His face when I sing to Him; whether it is with Hymns, songs with the band in church or in my car on the way to work. I sing to Him, I pray to Him and I am continually finding in Him a wonderful friend and a lover [yes, I said it] who hangs on to each and every single word I say. He looks at me like no one else can and shows me that He loves me even when I am not all that I want to be. It is an awesome feeling and I want everyone to get the love they deserve, man or woman.

Christ knows what every one of us needs, so when we search our hearts and ask Christ to come in and take hold of us He will! Rejoice in the love Jesus can and will offer you, it’s truly incredible. My words will never be sufficient, so I will praise God all of my days for His mercy and grace!

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
