I Believe In You

Hello friend, thanks for joining me today! I love children & I love dogs so when I came across this little video it actually inspired me to write this post. Would you take five to watch & then come back so we can chat about the word BELIEVE?

Can you imagine what Daisy’s life would have been like, had there not been someone believing in her, teaching her how to believe in herself & helping her on her journey?

Being the Step-Mamma to a beautiful, very {very} active six-year old little boy, I was both convicted & encouraged by Daisy’s story, because it serves as a reminder of the importance of believing in the child(ren) God places in my life & teaching them to believe in themselves.

Often in the heat of a moment, it’s easy for me to become so focused on the crime and punishment, that I lose site of the goal: instilling BELIEF in him, that through Jesus he really can be all God wants him to be.

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

As a Step-Mamma, my role in my stepson’s life is different than it is for his birth mamma, and yet my heart beats no differently for him. My heart longs to teach him right from wrong & to encourage him on his journey of learning to BELIEVE. In my own discouragement about the split-home, I sometimes fail to maintain & vocalize the words, “I Believe In You!” I’m good at vocalizing my disappointment, his need for change & the consequences. However, sometimes I fail to stop & reassure him that as long as he asks Jesus to help him, He WILL do better next time. The moments when I have taken the time to vocalize my belief in him have always yielded much better results than when I do not.

I’m flawed & messy & don’t claim to have it all together. Parenting is hard & in my opinion, Step-Parenting is harder! However, I BELIEVE God placed me in my stepson’s life to teach him, just as much as He placed him in my life to teach me! We’re both learning & growing & I thank God for the gift of this little boy.

Please tell me I am not alone in my struggle! 🙂

You’re not alone. I experience much of what you describe with our adopted son. Loving him is much more of a deliberate choice than with my birth son, but I do love him intensely. God has given me an amazing love for him and a belief that he can overcome his past.

Bless your heart for adopting! What a gift you’re giving your son! I’m encouraged to know that I’m not alone in my struggle… Love to you!

You are not alone!! Trust me, all parents struggle with this. Parenting is hard all around, and we have to choose each day to take those hard moments and make them teachable ones.
